Erosion Control Project Along the Ponds

The HCMUD 449 Board of Directors has voted to take on an erosion control project in the District. This will incorporate ponds A, B, and D, as they are most affected by the erosion of their shorelines. The scope of work includes dealing with the main issue (Erosion) and doing controlling measures along the shorelines with a product called ShoreSox, then re-seeding and fertilizing the areas to regrow healthy vegetation, mulching trees, and area beautification.

Here are some of the damaged areas HCMUD 449 crews will be focusing on in the District:

A lot of this damage is caused by Muscovy ducks and Nutria rats, as well as natural erosion by wind, rain, storms, and other natural causes. You can help prevent the damage to the shorelines by not feeding the ducks or nutria and reporting them on the contact us form around the ponds when you see them! This allows our animal control specialist to have an easier time finding the animals and removing them.
